Beechworth Granite Classic – 23-25 April

Join Bridge Road Brewers in beautiful Beechworth for this weekend-long gravel cycling event, showcasing some of the Victorian High Country’s most picturesque back roads.

Whether you’re into getting dirty on a freewheeling farm lane and fire road adventure or conquering some classic High Country climbs, the Beechworth Granite Classic needs to be a lock on your cycling calendar!

Racing or riding, spectating or supporting, this is a weekend that celebrates cycling culture in what is fast becoming one of the countries adventure cycling meccas.

Friday April 23 - TOR Bikes presents : A Bike Expo.

Bike builders and brands will showcase their wares inside the Bridge Road brewhouse at this low key expo.

Featuring bikes by Tor, Prova, Curve + more - From 6pm.

Saturday April 24 - Beechworth Granite Classic

Choose from a 45km or an 80km loop.

2 dynamic and varied routes taking in some premium groads and top notch High Country scenery along the way.

640m of vertical on the 45km + 1430m of vertical on the 80km loop.

Ride fully supported and managed by Bicycle Network.

Departure times - 80km at 9am / 45km at 10am.

Riders get a complimentary pre-ride Granite Classic exclusive batch brew from Melbourne coffee-gods Everyday Coffee.

And your ticket to ride will be the Curve / Beechworth Granite Classic bidon, which you’ll pick up at rego.

Saturday April 24 - Dinner

Share war stories from the days ride at the dinner hosted by Bridge Road Brewers.

The evening centres around a local and seasonally inspired 3-course menu by head chef Sean Judd.

There’ll also be Q&A featuring Australian cycling legends, Simon Gerrans and Paul van der Ploeg.

Sunday April 25 (ANZAC Day) - Recovery Ride

11am - Choose from 3 x 30km social gravel loops, each taking in different aspects of the Beechworth riding experience.

Registrations are essential and will open the week of the event - Numbers on each loop will be capped at 30.

NOTE: These recovery rides are unsupported.

As part of the BGC in-ride experience, bike-loving DJ and producer, Andras, presents 'Andras En Route’, A 5 hour live-streamed DJ set, to soundtrack your ride. Inspired by country, dirt, pain and euphoria.

Pack your bluetooth bike speaker and connect from 9am.

Saturday April 24 - Family Loop

We offer no support or take responsibility for those riding these loops, rather they are activities we recommend for those keen to enjoy some family cycling this weekend or anytime they are keen for a ride in Beechworth.

Green 5km loop – Recommended route for families with little ones at the Beechworth Granite classic!

Blue 14km – Recommended Route for junior riders looking for a solid challenge, with almost 300m of climbing, but dont quite want to take on 20km.

Black 20km loop, Big Kids Bash. 20km Challenge for kids and teenagers, 350m of climbing.

Getting here


Beechworth is a 3 hour drive from Melbourne via the M31 Hume Freeway. Take the Great Alpine Road B500 to Tarrawingee and the C315 to Beechworth.

Sydney is a 6 hour drive to Beechworth via the M31 Hume Freeway to Wodonga, then follow the signs to Beechworth on the C315.


Albury airport is about 50 minutes from Beechworth. Qantas, REX (Regional Express) and Virgin operate several flights daily from Melbourne and Sydney. Check airline websites for current flight information. Hire cars are available from Albury Airport.


Rail services run daily from Melbourne and Sydney to Wangaratta and Albury. View VLine and NSW TrainLink XPT for timetable information.


Wangaratta Coachlines operate a service Monday to Friday to Beechworth. View timetables at
